One of the 32 UNESCO World Heritage sites in India, the town is built upon a yellow sandstone ridge, with a fort at the top. Jaisalmer is also right in the center of the great Thar Desert, affording tourists a true desert town experience. A walk through Sona Kila (the Golden Fort), and a drive to the sand-dunes of Sam and Khuri and camel rides await the visitor to this medieval town.
