Pondicherry is a beautiful destination for slow, immersive travel. Although the number of tourist attractions in town are fairly limited, what makes Pondicherry a TOP tourist destination is its vibrantly diverse culture. The port town was under French occupation for over a century and the lasting European influence is still evident in its socio-cultural psyche. Pondicherry has also been a welcoming host to countless travellers from other parts of India as well as western civilisation. Many have come, some revolutionaries, seeking sanctuary from the British Raj, others who followed seeking peace & solace. Many have travelled to follow the path of integral yoga, laid down by arguably Pondicherry’s most influential immigrant – Sri Aurobindo himself. This wide mix of cultures has created an interesting mix of everyday life, worth experiencing in its typical slow nature.

 

Recognising this unique appeal, we found a wonderful house bang in the centre of the Tamil Heritage town, and decided to call it home. We offer an authentic option for your stay in this town, at The Blue Yonder House – our tiny little Pondicherry guest house. The house, built in contemporary Singaporean architecture, bang in the centre of the Tamil community is an ode to the multi-cultural heritage of this town. Just down the road is a sight many will recognise as the ‘Pi Patel’s School’ from the legendary ‘Life of Pi’ movie. Downstairs, you will find the craziness that we call our office at The Blue Yonder.
