Highlights of Jaipur

If your stay is short, a day spent taking in the highlights of Jaipur has to offer is your best bet. We will begin the tour with Amer Fort, the traditional fortress of the Kacchawaha kings. To make the ride up to Amer by elephant, one has to start early in the morning, but a ride by jeep can be accomplished anytime, so we will time the tour based on your choice of elephant back or jeep travel. After you’ve taken in the expansive views of the lake, and the opulent marble and red stone palace famous for the Sheesh Mahal (glass palace) and Sukh Niwas (built to always have cool air running through via the water cascades in the palace), there is more. We havetemples to see and the famous Ganesh Pol (gate) dedicated to the elephant god and remover of obstacles. We will make a stop at the Jagat Shiromani Temple, behind the fort, with its carved marble gateway and high temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.

After the fort, we will head back to the city of Jaipur so you can explore the palaces and monuments, and also experience the art, culture, history, crafts and guilds that the Hindu Rajput royals propagated. Visit the City Palace, an impressive structure with gardens, courtyards and the Chandra Mahal, now a museum. We will also visit Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), which was built as a way for the royal zenana (women’s quarters) to enjoy festivities and get a peek into the outside world. The intricate lattice work also affords very cool breezes, and the structure is a marvel of construction, dating to 1799.

We will take you through the many bazaars along the way, where you can see locals in action and make any purchases you wish.
