Bikaner Old City Walk and Tuktuk Ride

We’ll start with a fascinating tuktuk (auto-rickshaw) ride to the Old City, to the Jain Bhandasar Temple. A climb to the first floor of the temple offers a good view of the city and then we’ll continue on foot, taking a walk through the bangle, spice and vegetable market, as well as ‘tea street’. Walking on, we’ll stop at Rampuria Street, where you can see some beautiful examples of the traditional red sandstone ‘havelis’ (mansions). Built by well to do merchants, the intricately carved structures are representative of the trending architectural styles of the 1900s as well as the personal tastes of their owners. We’ll end with tea at a haveli converted to a heritage hotel and this will give you the chance to get a close up look at one of these marvelous buildings.

The Bikaner Old City Walk in company of our local storytellers is a brilliant introduction to the colorful life in this desert city.
