This is the post harvest season for us on the banks of the River Nila. Plenty of paddy fields after harvest offers the spacious ground for everyone in the village to come together. Continuing a tradition of celeberations after harvest and making use of the free time we have after harvest, every temple has its own festivals. Celeberated by different 'desams', or villages, this a culmination of different caste based art forms and rituals. See the legends of the region come alive before your eyes, be it a visit to Varahamurthy Temple where the legendary Carpenter Perunthatchan laid down his tools unwilling to prvoke the ire of Lord Indra the king of gods who grew annoyed with Perunthatchan for daring to construct a temple that would match the style of architecture in heaven.
