Close to a century of French occupation has left a distinct stamp in the cultural inheritance of Pondicherry. Sri Aurobindo Ashram is an integral part of the town. Its associated organisations & buildings as also several cultural organizations & private residences make up what is remaining of the White Town or Pondicherry’s French Quarter. Many of these structures are colonial buildings. Some of been deemed as heritage sites and many are breathtakingly beautiful.
In addition to an engaging introduction to the French influence, this walk is also about the journey of Sri Aurobindo. He was a revolutionary freedom fighter from East India who introduced integral yoga to the world. Also learn about The Mother, who followed her vision to reach Pondicherry. The duo’s spiritual journey forms the core of one of India’s famous ashrams. They are the inspiration for many that came to Pondicherry in search of integral yoga. The Ashram & Pondicherry French Quarter walk will be led by one such storyteller, who came to this town seeking peace, and found much more!
