Spend the day taking in the Highlights of Jodhpur. This full day guided tour will get you to Mehrangarh Fort (founded in 1459). The fort affords spectacular views of the city, and there is no shortage of stories about royal life. Next, make a stop at Jaswant Thada, Jodhpur royalty’s cenotaph constructed out of pure white marble. Follow this with a visit to the famed Umaid Bhavan Palace, one of India’s last great palaces, constructed pre-Independence. Using elements of Art Deco alongside Indian architecture in its visage, the palace boasts of a breathtaking 347 rooms, and had the distinction of being the world’s largest private residence when it was completed. The full day tour also includes a walk through the Ghantaghar (Clock Tower) area, Jodhpur’s busiest and largest marketplace (details below). For the avid photographer, we’ll head over to Brahmapuri, which is home to the blue painted residences that give the city one of its nicknames.
