Trekking Route:

The trek starts from an elevation of around 1500mts and goes down to 400 mts and then slowly on to 200 mts ASL. In the first phase, the trekking paths are narrow, with thick vegetation, with possibilities of occasional spotting of elephants.

During the trek, you can see the second largest waterfall in Kerala. Continue the trek down the hill through much more thicker vegetation but you have more space to trek in a group here.

With the season changes from winter to spring, change in colours of wild trees are unimaginable unless you see it in person. Spot wild trees, plants, herbs and animals.. Shoot questions to our guides from the indigenous communities and they will be happy to share their knowledge about the forests and its lives.

Cross over the Kalakka puzha, take a bath, relax and have the packed lunch. Be in the midst of wilderness, in the cool forests of Western Ghats . The trek route passes through a settlement of indigenous people.

Here onwards the trek continues along the banks of Kalakkapuzha.
Pitch tents: Relax and take a bath in the pristine waters. Move into the campsite. Enjoy home grown coffee and evening snacks. Join the team members in cooking. Find about different varieties of cooking fish. Depending on the season and the day, go for star gazing. Check out the night map of the sky. Listen to the legends and folklore of the place. Sleep overnight in tents.

Next day: Wake up and have your morning tea. Freshly made with clove and a tinge of cinnamon in it. After a lazy stroll around the campsite and breakfast, continue trekking the same path that you came yesterday.

For those people who are looking for less strenuous walk, you could go towards Nilambur. This trek route leads to plantation area in Nilambur. Enjoy the cool streams of Chaliyar. Cross over the river in a hanging bridge.

You will notice the difference in the temperature compared to the hills in Wayanad. Now you are in another district called Malappuram. Find out more about the honey collection methods in the forest. Our guides can explain the whole process and if you are lucky we might even manage to see this in person.

The trek will conclude in a place called Thampuratti Kallu and in between there is another tribal community settlement.  We can stop over for a small tea or snack in a near by plantation. There is a river flowing by, so this again is another chance to wash up if you want to get fresh.

The vehicle will be waiting here for you to take you back to Wayanad. Sit on your toes while the jeep crisscross over the shallow river through the rocky terrain.

The drive through the ghats lasts around 3-4 hours. The vehicle goes through the ghats bordering Tamilnadu and Kerala. Nadukani ghats provide you with breath taking views of the valley around Nilambur. Journey continues through the tea estates of Meppadi and reaches the vast expanse of Coffee plantation.

And now for those who prefer to climb back, you will reach the spot where you started the trek in 2 hours and a half and this is the time when those who prefer to go to Nilambur would ideally get into the vehicle for another 3-4 hours of driver through the ghats.
