River Rafting :
Kabini River in Wayanad district flows through the constellation of
islands in Kuruwa Dweep. This suit the adventurous one’s as well as the
laid back guests. The landscape moves from rural, country side to
wilderness.
The rafting route is flexible enough to explore its beauty in your own
terms. Since we let our guests decide on how to pace the rafting
expedition, one can take his or her own time. It is fun to stop near
village ferries, talk to people, map the locations, find out the name of
the place, and explore further while communicating with the villagers.
An accompanying vehicle on the road will be stocked with food and there
will only be fruits, some snacks and mineral water in the raft.
You will be provided with professional equipment tried and tested in
other river rafting areas in India and abroad. These include life
jackets, helmets, paddles and first aid kit.
The raft itself is a marvel of recyclable and eco-friendly material.
Fashioned out of wild bamboo, and fastened with coir rope, these basic
rafts are supported by large truck tyre tubes. The cushioning effects of
the tyre tubes make it comfortable to sit on while rowing without taking
away anything from the experience.
Suitable for: Rafting during the months of June, July, August and
September is adrenalin pumping experience. You will get wet, dirt and
might even bump into rocks. Suitable for those young at heart.
Season: June - October

Kabini River
Trails:
Walk through the several constellations of islands that form the
Kuruwa Dweep. Move from one island to another by foot, climbing over the
fallen trees that make natural bridges between islands. During monsoon
or post monsoon period, you can trail using a bamboo raft, visiting each
islands at your own leisure. The air here is filled with legends of
Kabini and Wayanad, Origin of these rivers, its tribes, its Gods and the
people around. This is probably the best and only way to explore and
enjoy the mesmeric beauty of the Kabini River, which is otherwise,
accessible only through some small pocket roads in few places.
Suitable for: those who love to be in the midst of nature, who like to
take effortless stroll.
Season: September – March
