Once upon a time there lived a King called Maveli
Gods in the heaven were envious of the way he was ruling. The
way he brought in peace and prosperity amongst his people was enough reasons
for the Gods to feel insecure. Later, the Gods ganged up against the King
and took him away from his people. People of Kerala religiously wait for
their beloved King to visit them annually with decorated flower carpets in
their courtyard.

Travel experiences from Spiti Valley
“We were on our way after a volley ball game with young lamas of the
monastery in the picturesque village of Komic, when we came across some
women who blocked our way. Women in Spiti Valley are quite social, looks
confident and since we have heard several stories about their empowerment we
were more than curious to know why they would want to block our way.”

Compassionate City : Gandhigiri by Kerala Police
A one-room initiative that was started as a ‘pain clinic’ fifteen years ago
in an anesthetist's dressing room in Kozhikode Medical College for bringing
in relief to terminally ill patients has now grown into a movement
comprising more than 25000 trained volunteers. Self-sustainable 300
palliative centres in Kerala is now spear-heading a social movement, not
just restricted to palliative care.
Kerala Police in the city of Kozhikode recently approached few civil society
movements like palliative care to engage a group of youth who were arrested
for stealing motorbikes and expensive mobile phones. Rather than taking them
through a routine course of questioning, lock-ups and long trials, the
Police decided to approach few socially active organisations to explore the
possibilities of bringing these youngsters to mainstream and hence avoiding
the near sure destiny of branding them as criminals in the future.
