In this typically 14-day Classic Rajasthan itinerary, discover the ancestral Havelis, mingle with folk-artists of a wide variety and participate in puppet-theatres, star-gaze under the incredulousness of a desert sky and enjoy the hospitality of the warm, tough Rajasthani household. This Classic Rajasthan tour takes a leisurely stroll through the vast variety of community life in Rajasthan and offers travellers plenty of time to understand the nuances of this great land.

Our Program


Jaipur

Arrive in Jaipur – the Pink City, where a transfer to your hotel/homestay awaits you. Explore the dimly lit capital city of Rajasthan at leisure and marvel at its impecabble town planning. In the evening, visit a nearby village to attend a Folk and Puppetry program and interact with the wonderful people that create and perform these works-of-art!

The Blue Yonder supports these artisans in partnership of Kalakar Vikas samiti . This is also a wonderful opportunity to buy directly from the artisans themselves with large varieties of small puppets, trinkets, hanging elephants, bangles etc. to choose from. Your purchases directly support the artisans and their craftsmanship.

Return to Jaipur for overnight stay.

The next morning, visit the city palace and look out for the hoisted flag, it is an indicator of whether the Maharaja is at the palace or not. We take you on a walk around the uniquely constructed city, and study its planning. You have an option to visit Amber fort or indulge in responsible shopping at fair trade shops. Overnight in Jaipur.

Nawalgarh

Early next morning, drive into the ruggedly beautiful Shekhawati region (4 hours). We take you on a walk through the town of Nawalgarh to explore its havelis, before settling down for a peaceful evening/night.

Wake up early morning and choose from a range of activities such as cycle trips, camel rides and even horse rides, cooking demos, etc. For women travelers, we strongly recommend checking out the famous Mehendi (Indian Tattoo). Overnight in Nawalgarh.

Khimsar

In the morning, drive to Khimsar via Fatehpur (5 hours) and visit some exquisitely built havelis. Check into a sensitively designed desert camp and settle in to experience a dazzling sunset.

On the following morning, join us on a visit to the weaving centre supported by a local foundation that has been engaging local women from the nearby villages. You can interact with the women to understand where they come from and learn the art of weaving before returning to camp and soak in the incredible vastness and serenity of the desert!

Chandelao

In the morning, we drive to Chandelao, a quaint village renowned for some of the best food in these parts of the world. Here you get to meet some wonderful craftsmen – from potters to folk artists. Count on your hosts here to make your stay a memorable experience. In the evening, embark upon a ‘sundowner’ trip at camel pace. Overnight in Chandelao.

After breakfast the next morning, you can go to the local markets around the town of Pipar or watch migratory birds at a nearby bird sanctuary. Share a lunch or dinner with the locals, as they recount magical tales that speak of the history of the fort and the feudal system of these lands. Retire for the night in Chandelao.

Rohet

The following morning, drive down to Rohetgarh (3 hours). On the way, visit the massive Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur; meander through its passages, with stories and history mapping centuries for company.

The drive to Rohet is via the famous Bishnoi villages. The Bishnois are known for being the original environmentalists who would give their lives to protect the environment. Experience the inspiration of their will power. The present rulers of Rohetgarh are known for their warmth and hospitality. The stables of Rohetgarh have the best Marwari breed of horses in Rajasthan. Overnight in Rohet.

Stroll around the picturesque village of Rohetgarh. Your time in Rohet is at your leisure, allowing you some time to catch up with and reflect on everything you’ve witnessed so far. For the equestrian enthusiasts, optional horse riding sessions await you.

Siana

Early next morning, drive to Siana, a quaint little town, and a less explored destination in Rajasthan. The hosts are famous for their hospitality. Spend the night under open skies with stars and constellations for company.

Rise early and join us on a village walk to explore the culture of Siana, a town that whose economy revolves around carpentry. Visit traditional carpenters at their homes to see their pieces of work. Drive across a dry river bed and meet with the Rabari community, the traditional shepherds of this region. Explore the village with the adorable sheep for company! Go on a panther safari at dusk and return to your camp to immerse yourself in stargazing.

Udaipur

The Aravallis welcome you into Udaipur. Stroll along the lakes and the narrow lanes, each with a unique character as you discover Rajasthan’s most romantic city. Walk around the bazaar streets and take back some wooden toys and authentic silver accessories.

On your last day with us, you can go on a guided tour of the city, before we transfer you to the airport for onward journey to Mumbai/Delhi.
